Profile of Mrs. Michiko HATADA

Born in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture.

Graduated from the Faculty of Literature and Human Sciences, Department of Sociology, Osaka City University.

Went to Amherst, Massachusetts, U.S.A. with her family after getting married.

Upon return to Japan from the U.S.A., lived in Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture, and started volunteer work, devoting her time to promotion of lifelong education.

Appointed by the Ministry of Justice to serve as a Civil Liberties Commissioner.

Assumed the office of the Chairperson of the Women's Issues Promotion Conference of Ikeda City.

Appointed as a human rights consultant for the Kinki Regional Office of Japan Post.

Published in 1994 a book entitled "Bridge Linking the World. Each Country Is A Flower. -Meaning of Internationalization to the Japanese" through the CB Publishing Co. ISBN: 4870886790

Assumed the office of the Chairperson of the Ikeda City Social Welfare Council and served 3 terms for a total of 6 years.

Established a Creative Glass Art Studio (Michiko HATADA Studio) in Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture, in 2000.

Held an exhibition at the Michiko HATADA Studio in 2003.

Held an exhibition in Saint Petersburg, Russia, in 2003.

Held an exhibition at the Gallery Ikeda in Ikeda City in 2004.

Held an exhibition at the Gallery Ginza in Ginza, Tokyo, in 2006.

Was accepted at the 48th Art Exhibition of Ikeda City with the artwork entitled "Inverted Reflection of Mt. Fuji on the Lake" for display at the Central Community Center of Ikeda City from April 8 through April 14, 2007.

Displayed a glass artwork as a token of friendship at the art exhibition held in Constanta, Romania, in 2007 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of international sister-city relationship between Yokohama and Constanta.
